Welcome to My Homeschool with a View

I first had the idea to create My Homeschool with a View around 2018 or 2019. After several false starts and countless hours on YouTube figuring out how to do this blogging thing, I eventually got my first version of the site launched. And it was so bad.

In 2020, you know the year that we all found ourselves homeschooling, I decided to jump in full force to this project. It was time. It was needed. And it was still kind of bad.

But I learned (thanks YouTube) and I got better. And that pretty much sums up where we are today.

My Adventures In Homeschool and Life

As a second generation homeschooler, I have been in this homeschool space for something like thrity years. The homeschool landscape has had some pretty big changes during that time, but some things remain the same.

I love sharing my homeschool experience with others, through writing, content creation and conference speaking, although I hate public speaking and much prefer to hide behind a computer.

When I am not homeschooling or creating content for My Homeschool with a view, I love traveling, health and fitness, and coffee. And I’ve just recently started making sourdough bread.

I am a total nerd and love to study theology, nutrition and sports science, and lighter topics like neuro-plasticity. Like I said, I am a nerd.

I am so grateful for how far My Homeschool with a View has come over the past years. While still imperfect, it is evolving and growing with me and my kids. It has allowed me to partner with several brands to bring you the latest and greatest of homeschool resources.

Just like this blog, homeschooling has come a long way, and just like this blog, we’re not done yet!

Thank you for supporting My Homeschool with a View.

How Many Kids Do You Have?

I am a boy-mom of two. They are pretty close in age (less than two years apart) and they are the best of friends despite being night and day different personalty-wise.

Have You Always Homeschooled?

Mostly. As a second generation homeschooler, most assume that I have always homeschooled. But no. Both of my kids did some hard time in public school early on. My oldest went to kindergarten at a charter school and my youngest went to a public pre-school. Other than that we have homeschooled the whole time.

What are the Best Places You Have Traveled?

This is a tough one. I went to Israel when I was a teenager and that is probably still at the top of my list.

A few years ago my husband had an extended work project in Ireland, so the boys and I joined him there for two months. That was an unforgettable time and is probably my most favorite because I was with my favorite people.

I have also been to Peru, the UK, Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, Grand Cayman, and to 46 of the 50 U.S. states.

Hopefully Australia will be in our near(ish) future.

Are You Really Married to Josh Hawley?

Yes. But not the senator from Missouri. We have heard an abundance of times that he shares a name with Senator Hawley, so now we beat everyone to the punchline.
