One of the best things about being a blogger, content creator, and curriculum reviewer is all of the new resources I get to discover and try out. Having been in the homeschool space for over thirty years now, I am amazed at how far curriculum options have come. I love sharing new products with you, sometimes an old favorite comes along for a review, and I can’t pass up the opportunity to share it with you. The Printable Essential Timeline Library from Home School in the Woods is one of those products.
Homeschooling with History Timelines
I discovered Home School in the Woods when I first began homeschooling my kids. History is one of my favorite subjects, but I always felt that the way history was taught was a bit disjointed. Reading about history timelines made me fall in love with the idea of using hostorical timeline figures and notebooks. I quickly lost all affection toward the idea. After scouring the internet and Pinterest trying to find decent timeline figures, that didn’t look like my first grader drew them, I nearly gave up on the idea.
The historical timeline figures and hands on history resources from Home School in the Woods are just what I need to help me teach history in a way that connects all of the events together.
I know it will be impossible to teach my kids everything about history by the time they finish their homeschool adventure with me. Hopefully, using good resources, like historical timelines, will make them love history and see how everything throughout history is connected to events we are currently experiencing.

Homeschool History Worldview
The Home School in the Woods timeline begins at 5,000 BC, and lines up world history events with Biblical history. While they come from a young earth Christian perspective, the Printable Essential Timeline Library can be used by those with differing worldviews. It is easy to simply leave off the Biblical historical timeline figures.
History Timelines for Homeschooling K-12
It’s never too early or too late to incorporate history timelines into your homeschool. Begin teaching with historical timelines as soon as you begin to teach your child history. A timeline notebook is something that your child will hold on to and keep beyond high school graduation. My perspective now as my kids get older is that a timeline notebook is something they will grow and mature into, not out of.
Timeline Figures for Every Homeschool Style
The Printable Essential Timeline Library can be used with any history curriculum. The helpful placement guide will help you match up the timeline events with what your student is currently learning. I have personally used the timeline figures successfully with a few different history curricula.
Tips for Printing Your Hands on History Resources
The only prep really needed to use the timeline library is printing. Plan ahead and make sure you have plenty of ink and paper on hand as this is a very full resource.
Take the time to print all of the timeline figures and notebook before you start teaching. This gives you an open and go resource when you are ready to use it. Home School in the Woods includes a helpful printing guide to make setting up the program much easier for you.
