As homeschoolers, we often think that we need to do everything. In fact, one of the biggest fears that moms have when they begin homeschooling is that they aren’t experts in every subject. Here’s some good news. You don’t have to know everything, or teach everything.

With so many options available to homeschool families now, especially online homeschool curriculum, you truly don’t need to be an expert in every subject. You don’t even need to be good at every subject. An internet connection can propel your kids education.

My favorite way to outsource homeschool teaching is with online homeschooling curriculum. Especially for math. I have gathered all of the options for homeschool curriculum online I could find to bring you this post. Some I have used, some I have just obsessively considered.

In this post you will learn about the best online homeschool curriculum options for different subjects. Including online homeschool science curriculum, online language arts homeschool curriculum, and online homeschool Bible curriculum.

Online School vs. Online Homeschooling

In the last four years I’ve seen more confusion about online school and homeschooling online. Before diving into the online homeschool curriculum options I have gathered, I think it would be helpful to clarify this.

Online school, or online public school is very different from homeschooling. With online schooling, parents are not in the driver’s seat. Many online school programs call parent the learning guide or helper, but this basically means that all of the responsibility is on you to make sure your kids complete their assignments, while you don’t have the authority for scheduling or choosing assignments.

I am personally not a fan of these programs. They seem demeaning to parents and most people I know that have participated in these programs weren’t happy with them. The common complaint from parents is that they had all of the work and responsibility while being told what to do.

Online homeschooling curriculum is chosen and paid for by the parents. This is obviously excluding free resources, of course. Utilizing this type of curriculum means you have the authority to award grades, choose your subjects (remember to follow state laws), and even drop a class if it isn’t a great fit.

Parents are still in charge, even with online homeschool classes. It is no different than ordering a box of textbooks, except you get the benefit of online instruction. Whether choosing live online classes, self paced online classes, or video based instruction, it is still homeschool curriculum and you are still following homeschool laws for your state.

Make sense? Clear as mud? Great, let’s move on.
