Thanksgiving is officially a week away, and if you are like me, you are only now beginning to plan your feast. Never fear, Amazon Prime can still bring you what you need in time to prep your big meal. Here are five of my favorite kitchen tools that I use for prepping my Thanksgiving Dinner.
And, I don’t just use them for Thanksgiving or other meals when I have twenty-something people in my house. These are my favorite kitchen treasures that I can never live without. Well, maybe that’s an exaggeration. But I wouldn’t want to live without these beauties.
Mueller Vegetable Chopper
This is my new favorite kitchen tool. I have had mine for about a month, and don’t think I will ever prep Thanksgiving dinner without one. It chops things so perfectly sized, and you can chop onions without crying. No more tears in the stuffing!
Crock-Pot
Who doesn’t have one of these? I have two. I use both every Thanksgiving to help keep food warm as I am juggling many dishes with limited oven space.
One of my crock pots is always reserved for mashed potatoes, which usually get prepped the night before. I take them out of the fridge early on Thanksgiving morning, and they get warmed in the crockpot while I cook the twenty other dishes that all beg for my attention.
My other crockpot usually holds some kind of special drink, like hot chocolate or cranberry wassail. Again, I can prep ahead of time and let it warm in the crockpot over the course of the day.
Stick Blender
I like this one so much, that I have two. My husband is a bargain shopper and found me a cheap refurb so I would have an extra set of attachments. Yes, my husband finds me great deals on kitchenware. Back off ladies, he’s mine.
Think of how impressed your family and friends will be on Thanksgiving day when you plop some freshly whisked whipped cream on their pie. No spray cans, or, heaven forbid, plastic tub of whipped like substance for you. No way. Just pull out the stick blender, attach the whisk, and you have the good stuff in minutes.
Seriously, even if you are not cooking a big feast, you still need one of these. I use it all. the. time.
Food Processor
After years of hesitation, I finally added a food processor to my kitchen. I guess you can say I was afraid to commit. Actually, I don’t like clutter so it takes me a little bit to decide if it is really worth making space for. And it totally is.
I use my food processor for several baking and mixing tasks that I don’t like to do by hand. If you are a pie or pastry maker, you need a food processor.
Normally I go for higher end (KitchenAid) appliances, but I am glad I had a moment of cheapness when I bought this one. It works great and I don’t have high-end appliance envy over this one.
Stand Mixer
You know how I mentioned I like my KitchenAid products? Here is my favorite. Cooking and baking have always been something I love to do, and I spent years dreaming of owning my very own, KitchenAid stand mixer.
Thanks to my husband’s massive amount of travel when our oldest was a baby, he accumulated an insane amount of airline miles. Since we had an infant we weren’t exactly trotting the globe, those miles were redeemed for the empire red beauty that sits on my counter. Redemption is so sweet!
While this item is a bit of a financial commitment, it is well worth it. I know there are other brands that make stand mixers, but if you are going to commit go all in with the real thing.
I hope you enjoyed my five favorite kitchen tools for prepping your Thanksgiving dinner. These are all tools that I use at least on a weekly basis in my kitchen and are well worth the investment. Happy cooking!
