Our family loves to play games. My kids love taking breaks from homeschooling to play their favorite card games or board games. I am always looking for ways to incorporate productive game play in our homeschool. Anytime I can disguise learning as fun it’s a win. Beast Academy Online Math
Beast Academy is a comic-based math curriculum that is well-known in the homeschool world for teaching kids advanced problem solving skills. Their math books and online math curriculum are well known in the homeschool world for teaching kids how to think mathematically.
Beast Academy Playground is a growing collection of math games, crafts and activities. Staying true to Beast Academy style, these games work on teaching problem solving and some of them don’t even feel like math. My kids like that these games are fun and don’t feel like work. Sometimes learning games can feel like school work that is trying to be cool. This is not the case with Beast Academy Playground.

Offline Math Games
One of the best parts about Beast Academy Playground is that the games don’t require screens. We’re talking old-school, table top games. As a parent I am concerned about how much time my kids spend on screens, so I really appreciate that these games are screen free. I can hop on the website to learn the game and rules and then gather the supplies and play.
The games and activities include videos to make it easy to learn how to play. Beast Academy Playground releases new videos every week, so you have plenty of fresh content to choose from.
Math Games for Kids Age 4 and Up
Beast Academy Playground has games the entire family can enjoy. There are games for pre-schoolers and even games my sixth and eighth graders enjoy. Each game includes basic instructions, as well as instructions for different variations of the game. This makes it easy to tailor each game to your own family’s needs and playing style.
In my humble opinion, sitting on the floor playing a game or doing an activity goes a long way in building their academic confidence. I appreciate that Beast Academy Playground includes learning activities for these young ones as well as the older ones.
Play Math to Keep Your Kids Learning
I like to play math when my kids need a mental break, or they just need to use a different part of their brain at the moment. We don’t have a games-based homeschool and do our fair share of book work, but like any other muscle sometimes the brain gets tired. This is especially true when it comes to repetitive learning. Incorporating game play, physical activity, and hands on crafts are all excellent ways to break from the normal or mundane of day to day academics.
Beast Academy Playground gives me so much more to choose from than I would have ever thought of on my own. I really like that I don’t need to spend a lot of time on social media or search engines trying to find good math games. There are plenty to choose from and they are designed by the leaders in K-12 advanced math education, so I can trust that the games are high quality learning games.
Things to Consider When Using Free Math Games
There aren’t many considerations with this program. The site is easy to navigate and the games have clear instructions. You will need some supplies for the games and activities, but most things you will be able to find around your house. What you don’t have at home is easily found at your local dollar store or even grocery store. What homeschool mom doesn’t like being able to get math supplies while picking up groceries?
What I Think of Beast Academy Playground
This one is an easy winner in my book. This is an excellent free resource from a trusted provider of homeschool math curriculum. Math games are a fun extra in our homeschool, and we love the fun variations to some well known games (Tens Go Fish). Beast Academy Playground is wonderfully convenient for this busy homeschool mama. Incorporating games in my homeschool is awesome, and not having to think of them on my own is even better.
