In order to celebrate our (Not) Back to School time, I thought I would share my top five favorite homeschool supplies with you. I must admit, getting to use cool stuff is one of my favorite parts of homeschooling. There are so many products and resources I love, but this will focus on my top five must haves. Even if you are a minimalist homeschooler, I think you will find the following products useful and even beneficial to keep things minimal. So, without further ado, here are my top five favorite homeschool supplies.

1. Thermal Laminator

This is probably the second most used tool in my homeschool room. I laminate pretty much everything. Worksheets that get repeated use in my house (skip counting charts, free handwriting printables, address and phone number practice sheets for littles) get laminated so the boys can use expo markers to fill them in. We can then erase and use them again the next day. I use the older version of this laminator and these laminating sheets.

2. Laser Printer

This is the only big ticket item I am putting in this post and definitely the product that I use the most. After years of using an inkjet and spending hours before the start of our school year printing worksheet after worksheet, I asked Josh (Mr. My Homeschool with a View) to find me a laser printer. Josh is the master of finding a good deal and he ended up getting me a Canon all in one laser printer. I realize that this is a big ticket item, but if you can, I highly recommend adding a laser printer to your homeschool.

3. A Big Box of Pencils

I know this may seem like a strange one, but only a homeschool mom can understand how infuriating it can be to try to help your kid with an assignment, only to spend thirty minutes looking for a pencil (can I get an Amen). A giant box of pencils gets purchased every semester so we always have usable pencils, with erasers still attached.

4. Dry Erase Contact Paper

I bought the boys’ desks used, and the tops were pretty beat up. As I was looking for a creative way to cover them, I discovered dry erase contact paper. This has worked out better than I could have imagined. The boys are able to write on their desks with expo markers, and it saves us from having gobs of scratch paper all over their desks. The only downside to this is the distracted creative outlet this provides while we are trying to get work done.

5. A Box of Glue Sticks

Just like pencils, glue sticks have a way of disappearing in our house. I am not a crafty mom, but the boys tend to create their own crafts by gluing stuff together. Glue sticks end up getting lost and can’t be found when we need them. I now keep a big box hidden away and only distribute them one at a time for use. This is really one of those small things that saves a lot of hassle and headache in our homeschool.
