I love music and was always involved in church music and choir growing up. As a homeschooled teen, I taught myself piano using videos from the library. Adding music and vocal training to my kids homeschool curriculum is something that is extrememly important to me, and thankfully, resources have come a long way since those videos I borrowed from the library as a teen.

A new resource we are enjoying is The Vocal Gym for Homeschool. I will give you my full opinion and summary at the end of the review, but spoiler alert, this is one of the best online programs I have seen for homeschoolers. The Vocal Gym by Throga truly found a way to utilize technology to bring homeschoolers excellent vocal training instruction.

Learn How to Sing Online

The Vocal Gym for Homeschool is a fully online, self paced curriculum that teaches students of all skill levels. The lessons are adaptive and personalized to each student’s ability.

My 15 year old used the program for this review. He takes in person guitar and voice lessons, but he loved these online vocal lessons. He appreciates the thoroughness of the program and likes the visual progress tracking.

Teach Vocal Instruction in Your Homeschool

Online music lessons begin with an assessment of the student’s strengths and abilities. We find the assessment to be pretty accurate. My son’s strongest ability on the assessment is breath control, and it just so happens that he has been focusing on breath control with his in person instructor. This makes me feel confident in the accuracy of the assessment with this program.

The program focuses on seven domains of singing with plenty of lessons and practice opportunities available. My son really enjoys the colorful graph that allows him to visually track his progress.

Fine Arts Credit for High School

While the techniques taught in The Vocal Gym for Homeschool can be used by homeschoolers of any age or experience level, the program especially shines for high school students. This is a full program with more than enough lessons to reach a full music or fine arts credit for your high school student.

I really like that I can track my son’s credit hours within the program. Not only are program hours automatically tracked, but I can go into the parent dashboard and add other music experiences to the credit hours. As a busy homeschool mom, I will take all the help I can get in making the process of creating high school transcripts simpler.

A Complete Music Homeschool Curriculum

One of the things that stands out to me with The Vocal Gym for Homeschool is that they truly seem to understand the needs of homeschool families. The parent portal is a full resource for homeschool parents and the independence of the curriculum gives me as the parent the ability to be fully hands off and just check in when I need. The program is really fun though, so if you are like me you will want to be involved.

As a homeschool blogger I see a lot of new online products that come to my inbox that claim they are great for homeschoolers. I appreciate that The Vocal Gym by Throga can actually back up that claim. This makes the program open and go and easy to incorporate into my homeschool.

Music Curriculum Worldview

I may sound redundant, but the experts behind the vocal gym The Vocal Gym kept all homeschoolers in mind when developing this program. There are five genres of music that they link to for our kids to use for vocal instruction and practice. These genres include Christian, Country, Pop, Rock, R&B/Soul. If you prefer only Christian music then that is an option.

No matter which genre you prefer, all music is explicit free. I really appreciate how easy this program is for me as a parent to incorporate without needing to screen it first.

Summary of The Vocal Gym for Homeschool

If you can’t tell by now, I think this is an excellent program. I feel like The Vocal Gym by Throga thought of everything when creating vocal lessons for homeschoolers. The quality of instruction, the ease of use, and the thoughtfulness that was put into every detail make this a product that I can highly recommend. This is a big program with so much more to offer than I can write in one review.
